FAQ’s

Why do my bins need to be cleaned?

Most people know their garbage cans are dirty, but they don’t understand the dangers of long-term buildup of microorganisms, viruses and harmful bacteria that happens over time. This can also attract pests and rodents to scavenge your garbage cans. We recommend cleaning your cans at least once a month.

How do you clean the cans?

Our pressure washer system is what keeps your cans clean and sanitized. First, the hydraulic lift places your stinky cans above our pressurized spray head. Clean water then travels from our 270-gallon tank into our water heater. The water then passes from the water heater and into the cleaning unit. From there the water shoots out at 200° Fahrenheit, at a pressure of 3000 psi and on a 360-degree rotation to get in all those disgusting corners. All the water used runs back into our double filtration system to collect all the debris. The dirty water is then pumped back into a separate 200-gallon water tank. That water is then properly disposed of at a waste station following all of the cleans. There is a separate handheld power washer attached for cleaning the exterior of the cans to catch any wastewater.

Are you Eco-Friendly?

Yes, 100%! This process uses substantially less water than if you were to clean your own bin using your garden hose. Our cleaning process only uses clean water that is heated to 200° and we run our machine at 3000psi which helps blast the dirty right off your can. We do use an Eco-friendly and biodegradable de-greaser on the initial clean, but all of the ingredients are natural and environmentally safe. All wastewater and debris are properly disposed of.

Can you work with HOAs?

Yes! Due to the high demand for our services, it often makes sense for our bin cleaning to be included in your neighborhood’s HOA program. Please CONTACT US for more details.

How much water do you use per can?

On a first time clean we use around 2.5-3 gallons of fresh water, on a repeat clean we use just under 1 gallon of water.

Do you clean the cans by hand?

No, we use state-of-the-art, customized equipment that uses high pressure, high heat water that kills germs without using chemicals for an eco-friendly clean.

Can I gift a cleaning to a friend or neighbor?

Yes! We love to encourage the gift of clean garbage cans! As long as the recipient is within our cleaning routes, we are happy to help you spread the love. Please contact us at 920-341-3453

Why should I have my bins cleaned when I can do it myself?

We do a MUCH better job, and without using chemicals. We use extremely hot water (200°) which kills germs, under very high pressure. We use far less water, and the dirty water is collected and disposed of properly and safely.

When will you clean my cans?

We service cans the day after your trash and recycle have been picked up. A Northwoods Bin Cleaner team member will confirm your start date depending on your community’s route.

My bin wasn’t spotless after my service, how come?

On occasions, some cans are EXTREMELY dirty. It can take a few cleanings to fully remove the built-up grime from these cans that haven’t been cleaned in several years.  Please note that some stains, such as paint or dried tar cannot be removed completely by our cleaning services.

Do you use hazardous chemicals?

No. We do use an eco- friendly, biodegradable deodorizer that contains natural essential oils to effectively neutralize odors. On occasion (and often for first time bin cleaning) we may also use a biodegradable degreaser.

Are there any contracts?

Nope, but if you cancel your plan, you will be billed for the one time cleaning price.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we carry comprehensive commercial coverage and liability.

If I miss my service date because of my mistake; will you reschedule my service day?

If at all possible, we will. But considering the volume of business, and routes scheduled in different communities on particular days, this may be impossible for us to do. We will try and contact you by phone or email.  This may be subject to a rescheduling fee.
